Screen share to Firestick lets you display photos, presentations, websites, and videos from a phone, tablet, or computer on your television. The best method depends on your device: Android and Windows often use built-in Miracast, while iPhone and iPad users usually need an AirPlay-compatible app.

How Screen Share to Firestick Works

Screen mirroring duplicates your device’s entire display on the TV. Unlike regular streaming, it shows everything on your source device, including menus, notifications, and apps that may not offer a Fire TV version.

Before you begin, check these requirements:

To prepare many Fire TV models, open Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring. On some newer models, the setting may appear under Settings > Display & Audio. You can also press and hold the Home button on the Fire TV remote and select Mirroring if that option is available.

Not every Fire TV Stick supports every mirroring method. Compatibility can vary by generation, operating system, and region, so check your model if the mirroring option does not appear.

Screen Share to Firestick From Android

Many Android phones and tablets can mirror directly to a compatible Firestick using Miracast or a manufacturer-specific feature. The name differs by brand:

First, open the Fire TV mirroring screen. On your Android device, open Settings and search for “Cast,” “Screen Cast,” “Smart View,” or “Wireless Display.” Open the feature, wait for nearby devices to load, and select your Fire TV Stick.

On some phones, the feature is available in Quick Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen, look for a tile such as Cast or Smart View, and tap it. You may need to edit the Quick Settings panel to find the button.

If your Firestick does not appear, the phone may use Google Cast rather than Miracast. Google Cast and Fire TV mirroring are different technologies, and a Cast button inside an Android app does not always connect directly to a Firestick. In that case, use a compatible mirroring app from the Amazon Appstore or connect through a device that supports both standards.

For better performance, close demanding apps and disable battery-saving mode temporarily. Fast-action games may show noticeable delay, while photos, web pages, and presentations usually work well.

Screen Share to Firestick From Windows

Windows laptops and tablets can often mirror to a Fire TV Stick through the built-in wireless display feature. On the Fire TV, open the mirroring screen first.

In Windows 10 or Windows 11:

  1. Press Windows key + K.
  2. Wait for the list of wireless displays.
  3. Select your Fire TV device.
  4. Approve the connection on the TV if prompted.

If Windows + K does not show the Firestick, open Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays, then look for the option to connect to a wireless display. Your computer must support Miracast, which depends on its Wi-Fi adapter, graphics hardware, and drivers.

You can choose whether Windows duplicates the screen, extends it, or uses only the TV. Press Windows key + P after connecting and select Duplicate for traditional screen mirroring.

For presentations, use a wired HDMI connection if possible. Wireless mirroring can be affected by interference and may introduce a slight delay. Also remember that protected services may display a black screen during mirroring because of digital rights restrictions.

Screen Share to Firestick From iPhone or iPad

iPhones and iPads use Apple AirPlay, while most Fire TV Sticks do not include native AirPlay support. Some newer Fire TV televisions and select Fire TV devices may support AirPlay, but availability depends on the model and software.

Check your Fire TV settings for an AirPlay option. If it is available, enable it, then connect as follows:

  1. Put the iPhone or iPad and Fire TV on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open Control Center on the Apple device.
  3. Tap Screen Mirroring.
  4. Select the Fire TV device.
  5. Enter the code shown on the TV if requested.

If the Firestick does not appear, install a reputable AirPlay receiver app from the Amazon Appstore. Apps such as AirScreen can make a Fire TV function as an AirPlay receiver, although features, advertisements, and privacy policies vary. Install only apps from the official store, review permissions, and uninstall the app when you no longer need it.

For videos, using the official Fire TV app for a streaming service is usually more reliable than mirroring from Safari or an iPhone app.

Fix Common Firestick Mirroring Problems

FAQ

Can every Firestick mirror a phone?

No. Fire TV compatibility varies by model and software. Some Firesticks support Android or Windows Miracast, while iPhone mirroring generally requires AirPlay support or a third-party receiver app.

Why does my Firestick not appear in the mirroring list?

The devices may be on different Wi-Fi networks, the Firestick may not be in mirroring mode, or your phone or computer may use an incompatible standard. Restarting both devices and disabling a VPN often helps.

Can I screen mirror Netflix or other streaming services?

Sometimes, but protected content may show a black screen or refuse to play. Installing the service’s official Fire TV app is usually the best option for supported streaming platforms.

Screen share to Firestick is simplest with a compatible Android phone or Windows PC. For iPhone and iPad users, AirPlay support or a receiver app may be necessary. Once both devices share the same network and the Fire TV is ready to mirror, connecting usually takes only a few taps.
